17 Agustusan

MERDEKA!!!
Lalu, permainan pun dimulai.

Career Week

Career Week was the very first High Scope event in this academic year of 2011/2012. This event started on Tuesday, August 2 and ended on Friday, August 5. The purpose of this event is to introduce students to varied career that they can choose to fulfill their hopes and dreams in the future.
On this Career Week, we had 4 guest speakers that have different occupation. For our grade level speaker, the school had invited one of the Ragunan Zookeepers. His name is Mr. Untung and he takes care of aves, one of them is Rocky, the eagle, that he brought along to school. Students are informed about the animal's environment, how the animals live around it, including how they breed. All explanation are related to our big question, "What makes a family?"
The next three guests are none other than our classroom parents. First to come is Mrs. Susan Emir or, as she likes to be called by other student, Mommy Ezra :) She is a safety officer. In the classroom, she exposed students to what she does. With a little help from Mrs. Elisabeth Tri Aryanti, she led students in having a fire evacuation drill. This was the most excited activity on that day. Before she went back to her own activity, she gave away a drill attendance certificate for each student.
The second parent-guest speaker was Mrs. Elisabeth Tri Aryanti, Elan's Mom. She exposed students to an occupation called lecturer. She also explained the difference between teacher and lecturer, shared about her students and even about one of her professors :) The most excited activity on this day was when each student had the chance to explore counting in a different way. They learned numbers by trying to press each number in the mini-calculator, that later being gave away for the students.
The last day, we had our last speaker, Mrs. Timsy. She is Laudza's Mom and an artisan. She designs many artistic things in the workshop in her house. In the classroom, she shared about things she does and makes in daily basis, including the tools that she uses to make all that stuff. In the end, we had a chance to decorate our own photo frame with colorful pearls to make them more beautiful. :)
Well, there were so many fun activities and interesting exposes. All of those made the students have even more hopes and dreams, including to be zookeepers, safety officer, lecturers, artisan and many other occupation to build on their careers in the future.
Thank you very much for each and everyone who participated in this event. We couldn't make it without you :)

Greetings from K-1 F

Time flies and it's already our third week being in the classroom together. We have known each other a bit better right now. Students, parents and teachers, all have their own special fun characters that ready to work together and create good times throughout this academic year of 2011-2012.
Days have passed and we have done various activities together. We did outdoor activities, such as going around the school, and many kinds of indoor activities as well. Those activities were not just for fun and but also make the students feel more comfortable in their new environment, but also to expose students to things that we are going to learn this term.
We also exposed students to classroom expectation, including classroom rules and some procedures that will be used during the school hours, such as what to do before going to the restroom, have a drink or line up.
Well, many more to come from and to all of us...!!!
Until then,
K-1 F
